1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ParentLens ("the Service"), including our website at parentlens.ai, dashboard, and browser extension, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

ParentLens is a parental monitoring tool that analyzes children's AI chatbot conversations for safety concerns. The Service includes:

A browser extension that monitors conversations on supported AI platforms
Keyword-based and AI-powered conversation analysis
A parent dashboard for viewing alerts and conversation data
Risk alerts and safety notifications

3. Eligibility

The Service is intended for use by parents and legal guardians who are at least 18 years old. By using ParentLens, you represent that you are a parent or legal guardian of the child(ren) whose conversations you are monitoring, and that you have the legal authority to consent to monitoring on their behalf.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use ParentLens only for:

Monitoring conversations of your own minor children (under 18)
Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of your children

You agree NOT to use ParentLens to:

Monitor adults without their consent
Monitor children who are not your own or under your legal guardianship
Engage in surveillance for any purpose other than child safety
Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service
Interfere with the operation of the Service or its infrastructure
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service

5. Third-Party Platforms

The ParentLens browser extension interacts with third-party AI chatbot platforms including ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), and Gemini (Google). Important disclosures:

ParentLens is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google
These platforms have their own Terms of Service that may restrict automated access or data extraction
You acknowledge that use of the ParentLens extension on these platforms may interact with their Terms of Service
ParentLens provides a Privacy Mode that performs analysis locally in the browser without transmitting conversation data, reducing interaction with third-party platform restrictions
You are solely responsible for compliance with third-party platform terms

6. Subscription Plans and Billing

Free Plan: 1 child profile, keyword-based analysis
Basic Plan: Up to 3 child profiles, keyword + AI analysis
Premium Plan: Unlimited child profiles, priority AI analysis, email alerts

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. You may cancel at any time through the Manage Billing section. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. ParentLens does not guarantee that:

All concerning content will be detected (no monitoring system is 100% accurate)
The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
AI chatbot platform interfaces will remain compatible with the extension
Risk assessments are infallible — they are tools to assist parental judgment, not replace it

ParentLens is a supplementary safety tool. It does not replace active parenting, open communication with your children, or professional guidance from counselors and educators.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ParentLens shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to failure to detect harmful content, service interruptions, or actions taken by third-party platforms.

9. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data and your children's conversation data.

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or use the Service for purposes other than child safety monitoring. You may delete your account at any time, which will permanently remove all associated data.

11. Mandatory Reporting

If our analysis systems detect content that indicates a child is in imminent danger of harm, we may be legally obligated to report this information to law enforcement or child protective services, in accordance with applicable mandatory reporting laws.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
